Interim Chair of the Department

Dr. Vernard Harrington,
Associate Professor of
Management, has been
appointed interim chair of
the Department of
Management. Dr.
Harrington succeeds Dr. Hooshang Beheshti who has
returned to full time
teaching in the department.

Dr. Hooshang Beheshti Receives
Outstanding COBE Faculty Award |
Dr.
Hooshang Beheshti,
Professor of Management, was
the recipient of the 2008
Outstanding College of Business
and Economics Faculty award.
The outstanding faculty award is
presented each Spring to a COBE
faculty member selected by the
students in the college.

Students Win Awards at SAM
International Conference |

RU student
Amanda Adkins
recently presented her
honors paper at the Society
for Advancement of
Management (SAM)
International Conference in
Arlington. Her paper, which
was written under the
guidance of management
instructor
Garland Wiggs,
addressed the subject of
including and designing
proper evaluations for major
events. Adkins is an officer
in the RU chapter of SAM and
plans to become an event
manager following
graduation. “It was an honor
to have the opportunity to
present my capstone paper,”
says Adkins. “Completing
this paper and presenting it
in Arlington has been an
experience to remember and
one that will help me out in
my future career.”
RU student Madalyn Arena and Brack
Smith,
associate professor of
management, also presented a
paper on executive level
females opting out after
they reach the executive
level.
Three RU students received SAM Outstanding Regional Awards:
Halley White, Lauren
McMillan and Sean Vineyard
were recognized for their
activities as officers in
the RU chapter of SAM.
